Universe of Silent Shadow
Silent Shadow is set in an “alternate-reality” version of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The setting is the present day, and the story revolves around the lives and adventures of the city’s magical guardian, Syleth Reshay and her sidekick (and self-styled “protector”) Rowan Andurs. The series is open-ended, meaning that there is technically no beginning or an actual planned ending.
Background (History & Concepts)
If I really wanted to go back to the very beginning for Silent Shadow, then it would almost have to be when I was in high school, and a huge fan of the X-Men cartoon series and just getting in to Mercedes Lackey’s Heralds of Valdemar novels. Really though, Silent Shadow actually saw its birth in the form of fanfiction I wrote for the fandom that I was involved in around 1999/2000: the Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers online community. The characters used in those stories had different names bu the same characteristics, as well as the same story concept. Perhaps the biggest influence to rear its head in Silent Shadow comes from Mercedes Lackey’s Diana Tregarde books. Too bad she never published more of them 
Another concept coming into play, that practically comes from such series like the aforementioned Ronin Warriors, is the idea of a team of five young people, each represented by an element, ie: earth, wind (air), fire, water, and aethyr (or spirit). Granted, I only have two characters right now with a third that will be introduced in the next series, but I’ve often played with the idea of introducing two more, but I think I’ll leave it at three for now.
