Magic

The system of magic that exists in the universe of Silent Shadow is essentialy a mix of neo-paganism, science-fiction and various occult sources. There are a variety of different psychic gifts that show up in the series that range from the typical telepathy, telekinesis and empathy as well as pyrokinesis (fire-starting). The majority of the characters in the various Silent Shadow stories that possess these abilities are generally human. The other major gift that makes an appearance is the gift of sorcery or mage talent, which is usually described in the universe of SIlent Shadow as the ability to see, sense and manipulate energy fields, whether they be natural, supernatural or artificial.

Demons and Supernatural Entities

The word “demon” is actually a misnomer for a class of ethereal beings that can take on a physical form—usually human or animal, sometimes both. Most demons are usually closely related to nature and will often take on physical forms that are closely related to their environment such as those of wolves, foxes, birds, etc. These considerd “good” demons. Other demons sometimes for out of the emotional emanations of humans (positve or negative). Incubi and succubi are a perfect example of this in action.

EMPs (Electromagnetic Phenomena)

It is hard to say what EMPs really are since only those that are gifted with the second-sight can see them and it appears, certain types of photographs. They seem to have come into existence within the last one hundred years and they generally cluster around high-voltage powerlines and electrical sub-stations, suggesting that they are a “byproduct” of electricity.

The Guardians

A rather secretive group of people gifted with sorcery and other abilities set to guard the rest of humanity against various supernatural phenomena as well as others with the same gifts who chose to use them for evil ends.
